ABUJA, May 30 (Xinhua) -- At least 20 people were burned to death following a road accident in Nigeria's southwestern state of Ondo, according to local media and officials on Wednesday.
The victims, among whom are passengers of a 14-seater Toyota bus and a Range Rover Sports Utility Vehicle, were burned beyond recognition on Tuesday, Nigeria's The Guardian Newspaper reported.
The two vehicles had a head-on collision and caught fire immediately. Only the two drivers are survivors but with life-threatening injuries, one source said.
Local police confirmed the incident, attributing it to reckless driving.
Police spokesman Femi Joseph said one of the vehicles' driver was overtaking another vehicle along the road when it collided with the other coming from the opposite direction.
Another source said some other road users were also among the dead victims.
