TOKYO, Jan. 12 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened lower Friday as the yen's firm tone continued to weigh on exporters.
As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average slipped 32.03 points, or 0.14 percent, from Thursday to 23,678.40.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, lost 6.84 points, or 0.36 percent, at 1,881.25.
Mining and food issues comprised issues that declined the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
