PARIS, Sept. 4 (Xinhua) -- French President Emmanuel Macron on Tuesday called two new faces to join his executive staff after the resignation of two ministers, who, according to the country's pollsters, were the most popular in his government.
In a minor reshuffle prompted by the surprise leave of ecology minister Nicolas Hulot last week, Macron charged Francois de Rugy, president of National Assembly to handle ecology issue.
De Rugy, a former green lawmaker joined the ruling "The Republic On the Move Party" in 2016 after he failed to secure enough score in left primary to book a ticket to presidential race.
Roxana Maracineanu, a Romania-born French former swimmer and Olympic champion was named sports minister to replace Laura Flessel, who announced earlier on Tuesday, her resignation, citing "personal reasons."
The refreshed government will hold its weekly meeting on Wednesday.
