RIO DE JANEIRO, Sept. 25 (Xinhua) -- Brazilian presidential candidate Ciro Gomes was admitted on Tuesday to the Sirio-Libanes Hospital in Sao Paulo and underwent a medical procedure on his prostate.
"The procedure was successful and was carried out by urologist Muguel Sourgi. As it was a simple procedure, Ciro Gomes will be able to return to his regular routine as quickly as possible," said an official statement of Gomes' campaign office.
Gomes, who currently ranks the third in all election polls for presidency, campaigned in Rio de Janeiro state in the morning and then traveled to Sao Paulo, where he was admitted to the hospital after feeling pain and discomfort.
He is expected to be released on Wednesday.
