NEW DELHI, Oct. 10 (Xinhua) -- At least five people were killed and nine others injured after a speeding bus rammed into a stationary truck in western Indian state of Maharashtra, police said Wednesday.
The accident occurred near Umred taluka on a state highway in Nagpur city.
"The private bus crashed into the truck parked on the roadside Tuesday night after its driver failed to spot the vehicle while overtaking a car at high speed from left side," a senior police official said.
While five people died on the spot, those injured were admitted to a government hospital, where the condition of two were said to be serious, he said. "All the victims are passengers of the bus," the official added.
A probe has been ordered into the incident, he said.
